✈️ Infrequent international travel may be required to work with clients onsite or support engineering team activities.

🕐 Our business hours are from 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is expected to accommodate customer meetings in different time zones when required.

The role:

The Senior Developer role is a hands-on coding position with added responsibility for mentoring team members and supporting the Engineering Lead in solutions architecture. The role focuses on writing high-quality, scalable code, conducting peer reviews, and contributing to technical design while helping less experienced developers grow their skills.
Working closely with the Engineering Lead, Product Managers, and Solutions Architects, the Senior Developer ensures projects are delivered to a high standard, supporting sustainable customer offerings across luxury hospitality, retail, and private healthcare. The role is central to fostering technical excellence and collaboration within the team.

Some key areas you’ll be working on:

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript (Node.js / React)
• Apply Object-Oriented Programming principles, design patterns, and S.O.L.I.D. principles
• Design and optimise relational database schemas in PostgreSQL
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise SaaS applications
• Build and integrate APIs (GraphQL and RESTful)
• Support the Engineering Lead in solutions architecture, ensuring scalable, maintainable technical designs
• Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Help refine tasks and support Agile ceremonies to ensure clear scope and timely delivery
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with other team members
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing guidance on coding standards, best practices, and problem-solving approaches
• Share knowledge through pair programming, technical discussions, and documentation
• Support onboarding of new developers
• Contribute to fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture alongside the Engineering Lead
• Engineering Lead & Development Manager
• Product Managers / Project Managers / Delivery Lead
• DevOps / Design / QA team

Important to have:

• Demonstrable experience as a Senior Developer in a commercial software development team
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written & presentation)
• Commercial experience in: 
  • Ruby on Rail
  • JavaScript (Node.js / React)
• Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, Serverless framework)
• Experience in delivering projects using Agile methodologies
• Proven experience mentoring and supporting the growth of other developers

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience in developing large-scale distributed systems
• Exposure to product or project management practices
• Understanding of operating systems and system security
• Experience with JIRA or similar tools for managing user stories
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
