The role:
The DevOps Engineer role is crucial to the successful delivery of Alliants’ products and services, by designing a secure, robust, and efficient infrastructure, implementing effective processes and automation.
Reporting to the Senior DevOps Architect, the purpose of this role is to design, implement, manage, and deliver technical support services to internal stakeholders/projects and Alliants customers.
This role requires you to provide expert consultancy regarding current and future state environments, platforms, and technical strategy to internal stakeholders/projects and Alliants end customers, as well as to protect and where possible increase revenues and margins relating to Support services or Consultancy.
Some key areas you’ll be working on:
Supporting Alliants Products and Solutions
- Work closely with other engineering and technical teams in deploying their code, providing operational support for new and existing sites/software, and debugging production issues
- Designing, implementing, managing, maintaining, and optimising the infrastructure and environments for Alliants proprietary products and the tools used by Alliants for business optimisation
- Identifying opportunities for, and implementing, automation of the above where appropriate
- Documenting work and committing assets to source control
- Receive, manage and resolve service desk tickets, JIRA tickets and working to SLAs
- Implementing and managing effective monitoring solutions and as necessary performance reports
- Ensuring best practice and/or regulated security standards are met
Supporting Alliants Customers
- Designing, implementing, managing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising the infrastructure, environments, systems, applications, tools, and communications of Alliants clients where we provide hosting/environment support or application support
- Ensuring support to clients meets or exceeds the requirements of the SLA/SOW/Contract/Arrangement
- Implementing and maintaining effective monitoring solutions
Supporting Alliants Employees and Associates
- Designing, implementing, managing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising the infrastructure, environments, systems, applications, tools, and communications Alliants uses to run its business
- Implementing and managing effective monitoring solutions and as necessary performance reports
- Managing and optimising the cost of Alliants hosting environments
- Researching and advising the business on solutions, tools and technologies for products and services
Essential Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or correlated areas)
- Experience with managing multiple environments for multiple products
- Managing and configuring AWS environments, including RDS, ECS (Fargate), EC2, VPC, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, API Gateway and Lambda
- Automated provisioning and configuration management technologies such as Terraform
- Maintaining continuous integration systems, deployment pipelines and environments
- System management and diagnostics including *nix command line familiarity and Bash
- Securing and documenting systems from an InfoSec perspective
- Basic programming ability in Python or shell script to support automation
- Experience with Terraform, Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Experience working in an Agile environment using JIRA
Desirable Experience:
- 4 years of technical DevOps experience
- AWS Certified (AWS Developer or AWS SysOps Administrator Associate)
